Nitro Tiger 21
A readjustment of the screw may be necessary if a different gear ratio, or other engagement point of the
clutch is present.
WARNING: The vehicle must always stop before the tank is completely empty. If your car stops due
to an empty tank, the fuel-air mixture is briefly previously extremely lean, which can damage the
engine in a few seconds!
Subsequent readjustment
after the engine is fully run-in, and the carburetor adjustments has been made, the needle must be slight-
ly adjusted only occasionally to meet different weather conditions. When using different fuels, especially
if they contain more or less nitro methane, and / or have different types or amounts of oils the needle
must be readjusted. If a readjustment is made , so it is advisable as a safety procedure, to add an addi-
tional half turn to the rich side. This should also be done if a different muffler is used. Here, the pressure
will change which acts on the tank and the fuel supply. This also requires a readjustment of the needle.
Clean the carburetor
the carburetor can only function properly if the small fuel nozzles are not clogged. Tiny foreign particles,
such as are present in each fuel, can partially clogging these nozzles. Unreliable engine running is the result.
Therefore, it is recommended to filter the fuel when refueling the model, also install a filter between the fuel
tank and carburetor, as well as a to use a the second filter in the fuel line. These filters should be cleaned more
often from dirt and fibers. The carburator itself must be cleaned from time to time
Before starting the Engine
1. Before starting the engine the first time a day, unscrew the glow plug and turn the engine slowly by hand
or starting box. Is this smooth and clean, i.e. you feel no resistance, or irregular run of a bearing, etc., turn
the engine with the electric or pull starter, until the fuel is sucked into the carburetor. This spreads fresh
fuel in the engine, then it is much easier to spin and the old thickened oil is flushed out.
2. Check glow plug coil. If the heater element is bent or not is in the middle or a white coating has formed it,
the glow plug no longer delivers the full power. With racing engines glow plugs are a wear part and must
be frequently replaced.
3. Screw in the glow plug again and start the engine.
4. Before every start turning the engine briefly by hand, without unscrewing the glow plug, so you can feel
that the engine is in order. Only then glow the plug and start the engine.
WARNING: if too much fuel is sucked into the engine, it must never be turned through by force by an
electric or pull starter,
because the connecting rod and the piston pin could be bent and the engine
would be damaged!
WARNING: Model engines generate a lot of heat. Engine and muffler gets very hot during operation
and a while after.
Contact can cause severe burns!
Care and Maintenance
1. As previously mentioned, before the fuel reaches the engine, it should be preferably filtered twice. A filter
should be installed at the outcome of your fuel tank and another in the model between tank and carbure-
tor. Only this allows is a smooth-running engine.
2. The dirt that accumulates in the fuel filters must be washed out regularly. Also, clean the carburetor oc-
casionally!
3. At the end of each operating day, the tank must be completely drained. Then heat the glow plug and try
to start the engine again to burn any fuel remaining in the engine. Repeat cranking until the engine will not
ignite. Remove residual fuel when the engine is warm.
4. Then splash some corrosion-inhibiting oil in the engine and spin about 4 to 5 seconds with the electric
starter to distribute the oil to the bearings. Note: splash corrosion preventive oil only into the engine, but
