Why is my unit taking a long time to boot this time?
Your musicm8 has been designed to be completely reliable, especially if you take
advantage of the USB Backup feature. One aspect of ensuring this is that every
30 reboots, it performs a system check to ensure your media is safe and secure.
If you have a large media collection, this can take several minutes.
The CD I just inserted will not record, instead it is just ejected.
If your mediam8 can’t look up the CD on the internet databases, there are two
things that can happen. Normally, it will be recorded as Unknown, but there is a
setting under Recording > Metadata Options menu to allow you to eject the disc
instead. Have you checked that option?
My musicm8 does not record DVDs.
You can use your musicm8 as a backup store for media of all formats, but it can’t
record or play them; the slot drive will only record CDs. To back up media from
your computer to your musicm8, simply create a suitably named share on the
musicm8 and drag your media into it from your computer. To create a share on
your musicm8:
Open the Network menu and select Create a Shared Folder.
•
In the New Share Name field type the name you wish your share to have, for
•
example: BluRayBackup. Click Update. The share will now be created at the
following location:
\\musicm8\BluRayBackup.
How can I change the username and password?
At present, the username and password cannot be changed. We expect to pro-
vide this facility in a future release.
The pictures folder contains a folder named ‘qdig-files’. What is this?
The folder called ‘qdig-files’ within your pictures directory is purely to help with
the display of images when you browse the picture viewer on your musicm8’s web
interface.
USB Ports
There are USB ports on the rear of the unit, and also hidden behind the slim,
spring-out panel on the lower left front of the unit. Press and release the group of
six small bumps near the power switch to open the panel.
The USB ports on this unit are intended for be used to back up your
media collection to a USB storage device. Use for any other purpose is
not supported.
