MusicCAST Version Upgrade 1
Function keys
What are the “function keys”?
The function keys are the FUNC1/FUNC2/FUNC3 keys on the remote control of the
MusicCAST server. You can assign one of the functions below to each function key.

Descriptions
AV Receiver: VOL – (default of FUNC1)
Reduces the volume level of a Yamaha AV
receiver connected to the MusicCAST server
using a cross-type RS-232C cable.
AV Receiver: VOL + (default of FUNC2)
Increases the volume level of a Yamaha AV
receiver connected to the MusicCAST server
using a cross-type RS-232C cable.
AV Receiver: MUTE (default of FUNC3)
Mutes the volume level of a Yamaha AV
receiver connected to the MusicCAST server
using a cross-type RS-232C cable. Press the
key once again to cancel the mute function.

Starts playback of the playback group
assigned to the function key.
Play Style: Group
Changes the playback group setting (see page
58 of the MCX-1000 owner’s manual).
All Clients: Sleep
Places all MusicCAST clients in Sleep mode.
All Clients: Playback
Starts playback on all MusicCAST clients.
All Clients: Stop
Stops playback on all MusicCAST clients.
Client: Timer ON
Activates the MusicCAST client Timer fuction
for selected MusicCAST clients. For details on
the MusicCAST client Timer function, see page
101 of the MCX-1000 owner’s manual.
Client: Timer OFF
Deactivates the MusicCAST client Timer fuc-
tion for selected MusicCAST clients. For details
on the MusicCAST client Timer function, see
page 101 of the MCX-1000 owner’s manual.
“VOL+”, “VOL-”, and “MUTE”
printed on remote control of the
MusicCAST server represent the
default settings of the function
keys. You can change the
function assigned to the function
keys.
When you press a function key to
activate “All Client: Sleep”, “All
Client: Playback”, “All Client:
Stop” functions, a confirmation
screen appears on the display. To
activate the function, use V to
select “OK” and press SELECT.
If you carry out a system reset
(see page 129 of the MCX-1000
owner’s manual), function keys
return to their default settings.
You can assign one of the
following groups to a function key
as a preset playback group.
• Artists
• Albums
• Genres
• All Songs
• Playlists
• Song Statistics (Times played,
Recently played songs)
• Bookmarks
• CD
• External Inputs
