SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Training
1.Readtheinstructionscarefully.Befamiliarwiththecontrols
andtheproperuseoftheequipment.
2. Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these in-
structionstousethelawnmower.
3. Never mow while people, especially children, or pets are
nearby.
4. Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible for
accidentsorhazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheirprop-
erty.
Preparation
1.Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantialfootwearandlong
trousers. Do not operate the equipment when barefoot or
wearingopensandals.
2.Thoroughlyinspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobe
usedandremoveallobjectswhichmaybethrownbythema-
chine.
3.WARNING-Petrolishighlyflammable.
- Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this pur-
pose.
-Refueloutdoorsonlyanddonotsmokewhilerefuelling.
-Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Neverremovethecap
ofthefueltankoraddpetrolwhiletheengineisrunningor
whentheengineishot.
- If petrol is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine but
movethemachineawayfromtheareaofspillageandavoid
creatinganysourceofignitionuntilpetrolvapourshavedis-
sipated.
-Replaceallfueltanksandcontainercapssecurely.
4.Replacefaultysilencers.
5.Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblades,
bladeboltsandcutterassemblyarenotwornordamaged.Re-
placewornordamagedbladesandboltsinsetstopreserve
balance.
Operation
1.Donotoperatetheengineinaconfinedspacewheredan-
gerouscarbonmonoxidefumescancollect.
2.Mowonlyindaylightoringoodartificiallight.
3.Avoidoperatingtheequipmentinwetgrass,wherefeasi-
ble.
4.Alwaysbesureofyourfootingonslopes.
5.Walk,neverrun.
6.Mowacrossthefaceofslopes,neverupandown.
7. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on
slopes.
8.Donotmowexcessivelysteepslopes(>30°).
9. Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the lawn-
mowertowardsyou.
10.Stoptheblade(s)releasingtheSystem2leverifthelawn-
mowerhastobetiltedfortransportationwhencrossingsur-
facesotherthangrassandwhentransportingthelawnmower
toandfromtheareatobemowed.
11. Never operate the lawnmower with defective guards, or
withoutsafetydevices,forexampledeflectorsand/orcatch-
ers,inplace.
12.Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsoroverspeed
theengine.
13.Starttheengineorswitchonthemotorcarefullyaccording
toinstructionsandwithfeetwellawayfromtheblade(s).
14.Firmlykeepthelawnmoweronlevelgroundwhenstarting
theengine.
15.Donotstarttheenginewhenstandinginfrontofthedis-
chargechute.
16.Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.Keep
clearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
17.Neverpickuporcarryalawnmowerwhiletheengineis
running.
18.Stoptheengineanddisconnectthesparkplugwire:
-beforeclearingblockagesoruncloggingchute;
-beforechecking,cleaningorworkingonthelawnmower;
- after striking a foreign object. Inspect the lawnmower for
damageandmakerepairsbeforerestartingandoperatingthe
lawnmower;
- if lawnmower starts to vibrate abnormally (check immedi-
ately).
19.Stoptheenginewheneveryouleavethelawnmowerand
beforerefuelling.
20.Reducethethrottlesettingduringengineshutdownand,
iftheengineisprovidedwithashut-offvalve,turnthefueloff
attheconclusionofmowing.
Maintenance and storage
1.Keepallnuts,boltsandscrewstighttobesureequipmentis
insafeworkingcondition.
2.Neverstoretheequipmentwithpetrolinthetankinsidea
buildingwherefumesmayreachanopenflameorspark.
3.Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringinanyenclosure.
4.Toreducethefirehazard,keeptheengine,silencerandpet-
rolstorageareafreeofgrass,leavesorexcessivegrease.
5. Check the grass catcher frequently for wear or deteriora-
tion.
6.Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
7.Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,thisshouldbedoneout-
doors.
BEFORE OPERATING
Filling the crankcase with oil (fig. 2, 3, 4)
Theengineissuppliedwithoutoilinthecrankcase.Therefore,
beforestartingtheengine:
1.Placethemachineonaflatsurface.
2.Pullthedipstickout,unscrewingcapcounterclockwise.
3.Slowlypourabout0,6lofSAE10W-30(SE,SF,SG,SJ)oilin
thesump.
4.Lettheoilsettleforacoupleofminutes.
5.Cleanthedipstickwitharagandreplaceitturningthecap
inaclockwisedirection.
6.Pullthedipstickoutagainandcheckoillevelisjustbelow
the“FULL”or“MAX”notch.
ATTENTION:
1. Do not fill beyond level as this may damage the engine.
2. To keep your engine in good working order, change the
oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 working
hours.
3. If the mower is used in very dirty and dusty conditions,
change the oil more frequently.
4. For further information we recommend that you consult
the manual supplied by the engine manufacturer.
