ATTENTION:
1. Always handle fuel with maximum care.
2. Refuel outdoors using a clean funnel to prevent spilling.
Wipe up any spilled petrol.
3. Refuel only after turning the engine off and when engine
is cold. Do not fill beyond 15 mm from top of fuel tank as fuel
expands when hot.
4. When filling tank, keep far away from open flames and
sparks and DO NOT smoke!
5. Do not mix oil with gasoline. (See engine manual for fur-
ther informations on oil and fuel).
Blade inspection
Thefrequencyofbladeinspectiondependsontheworkingcon-
ditions.
1. Makesurethattheengineisnotrunningandthehightension
wireisdisconnectedfromthesparkplug.
2. Drainpetrolfromthefueltank.
3. Tiltthemowertotherightside(operatorpointofview),with-
outrotatingtheblade.
4. Carefullyexaminetheblade:
a)Ifthecuttingedgehasbecomeroundeditmustbesharp-
ened.
b)Checkwheretheflatandcurvedpartsmeetand,ifthereare
anycracksorsignsofwearreplacethebladeimmediately.
ATTENTION: A worn or cracked blade can easily break during
use or pieces may break off, resulting in serious injury to your-
self or a bystander.
Sharpening or replacing the cutter blade
1. Turntheengineoffanddisconnectthehightensionwirefrom
thesparkplug.
2. Drainfuelfromthefueltank.
3. Tipmoweronitsrightside(operatorpointofview).Avoidro-
tatingthebladewhenthemoweristippedupbecausestart-
ingproblemsmayresult.
4. Whilekeepingthebladeinplacewiththehand,fullyloosen
thefixtureboltusingawrench.
5. Removethebladeinordertosharpenorreplaceit.
6. Usingaflatfile,sharpenthetopsideofblade,maintainingthe
originalcuttingangle.Thebladewillremainbalancedifthe
sameamountofmaterialisremovedfrombothcuttingedges.
7. Checkthebalanceofthebladebyusingabladebalancer.An
unbalancedbladewillleanonitsheavierside.Ifthebladeis
notbalancedfilemoremetaloffthecuttingedgeoftheheavy
sideandcheckthebalanceagain.
8. Installasharp,balancedblade,beingcarefultoreassembleall
componentinthecorrectorder(fig.9).
9. Tightenthebladeboltto5,5Kgm.
NOTE: A blade balancer may be purchased at any good hard-
ware shop.
ATTENTION: In order to obtain best possible cutting results, we
recommend that you replace the blade annually in addition to
sharpening it whenever necessary.
Cleaning the mower deck
Toassureoptimumperformance,keeptheundersideofthemow-
erdeckandthegrassdischargeareaclean.
1. Checkthattheenginehasstoppedandthehightensionwire
isdisconnectedfromthesparkplug.
2. Drainthefueltank.
3. Tipthemoweronitsrightside.Avoidrotatingthebladewhen
themoweristippedupasstartingproblemsmayresult.
4. Remove dirt and grass clippings from the underside of the
deck.Scrapeawayanyremainingdirtwithahandtool,being
carefulnottoinjureyourselfwiththebladeorsharpedges.
5. Whencompleted,returnthemowertoitsuprightposition.
Traction cable adjustment
Afterthefirsthoursofuseitispossiblethatthetractionhandle
cableloosensanditbecomesdifficulttouse.
Ifthishappens,adjustthecableregulatorasfollows.
Loosennutsoncableregister(fig.10).Itisnowpossibletoadjust
tractioncableplay.
Thetractionmustengagewhenthereisadistanceof30mm.be-
tweenhandleandtractionhandle.
Lubrication (fig. 11)
Afterevery25operatinghours,frontandrearwheelsmustbelu-
bricated.
1. Wipegreasefittingswithcleanrags.
2. Installgreasegunontofittingsandgentlyapply2or3pumps
ofLithiumN.2.
Excesspressuremaydamageseals.
3. Inordertolubricatewheelbearings,removefixingscrewsand
apply2or3pumpsofLithiumN.2usinggreasersupplied.
Preparing mower for storage (more than a month).
1.Drainfuelfromthetank.
2.Startengineandletitrununtilitstops,duetolackoffuel.
ATTENTION:
All petrol must be expended to prevent gum-like varnish depos-
its from forming in the carburetor, fuel line and fuel tank. Such
deposits, if allowed to form, will cause starting problems and
poor engine performance.
3. Removethehightensionwirefromthesparkplugandclean
thesurroundingareasothatdirtcannotpenetratethecylin-
derwhenthesparkplugisremoved.Removethesparkplug
andpouraspoonfulof2-cycleoilintothecylinderchamber.
Pulltherecoilstarterhandleslowlytodistributeoilonthein-
sideofthecylinder.Theninstallthesparkplugandtighten,us-
ingaspanner.Donotinstallthehightensionwireonthespark
plug.
4. Cleanthecylinderheadcoolerfins,externalenginepartsand
mowerdeck.
5. Checkandtightenallscrews,boltsandnuts.Ifanypartsare
damaged,repairorreplacethem.
Inspectthegrassbag.Replaceitifitisdamagedorworn.
6. Checktheconditionofthebladeandbladebolt;referto“Blade
inspection”.
7. Cleantheairfilter(seeenginemanufacturer’smanual).
8. Touch-upallchippedpaintsurfaces.
9. Storethemowerinaclean,dryplace.
10.Store the mower in a clean, dry place.The handles may be
foldedtosavespace.Coverthemowertoprotectitandkeepit
clean,readyfornextseason.
NOTE: Before using the mower again, check that the handles are
well installed and all knobs are tightened.
