SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Training
1. Read the instructions carefully. Familiarise yourself with the
controlsandtheproperuseoftheequipment.
2. Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliarwiththesein-struc-
tionstousethelawnmower.
3. Nevermowwhilepeople,especiallychildren,orpetsarenear-
by.
4. Keepinmindthattheoperatororuserisresponsibleforac-
cidentsorhazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheirproperty.
Preparation
1. While mowing, always wear substantial footwear and long
trousers. Do not operate the equipment when barefoot or
wearingopensandals.
2. Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be
usedandremoveallobjectswhichmaybethrownbythema-
chine.
3. WARNING-Petrolishiglyinflammable.
A.Storefuelincontainersspecificallydesignedforthispur-
pose.
B.Refueloutdoorsonlyanddonotsmokewhilerefuelling.
C.Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Neverremovethecap
ofthefueltankoraddpetrolwhiletheengineisrunningor
whentheengineishot.
D.Ifpetrolisspilled,donotattempttostarttheenginebut
movethemachineawayfromtheareaofspillageandavoid
creatinganysourceofignitionuntilpetrolvapourshavedis-
sipated.
E.Replaceallfueltanksandcontainercapssecurely.
4. Replacefaultysilencers.
5. Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspectmachinetoseethatthe
blade,bladeboltandcutterassemblyarenotwornordam-
aged.Replacewornordamagedbladesandboltstopreserve
balance.
Operation
1. Donotoperatetheengineinaconfinedspacewheredanger-
ouscarbonmonoxidefumescancollect.
2. Mowindaylightoringoodartificiallight.
3. Avoidoperatingtheequipmentinwetgrass,wherefeasible.
4. Alwaysbesureofyourfootingonslopes.
5. Walk,neverrun.
6. Forwheeledrotarymachines,mowacrossthefaceofslopes,
neverupanddown.
7. Exerciseextremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.
8. Donotmowexcessivelysteepslopes.
9. Useextremecautionwhenreversingorpullingthelawnmow-
ertowardsyou.
10.Stopthebladeifthelawnmowerhastobetiltedfortransporta-
tionwhencrossingsurfacesotherthangrassandwhentrans-
portingthelawnmowertoandfromtheareatobemowed.
11.Neveroperatethelawnmowerwithdefectiveguards,orwith-
outsafetydevices,forexampledeflectorsand/orcatchers,in
place.
12.Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsoroverspeedthe
engine.
13.Disengagealldriveclutchesbeforestartingtheengine.
14.Starttheengineorswitchonthemotorcarefullyaccordingto
instructionsandwithfeetwellawayfromtheblade.
15.Donottiltthelawnmowerwhenstartingtheengineorswitch-
ingonthemotor.
16.Do not start the engine when standing in front of the dis-
chargechute.
17.Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.Keep
clearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
18.Neverpickuporcarryalawnmowerwhiletheengineisrun-
ning.
19.Stoptheengineanddisconnectthesparkplugwire:
-beforeclearingblockagesoruncloggingchute;
-beforechecking,cleaningorworkingonthelawnmower;
- after striking a foreign object. Inspect the lawnmower for
damageandmakerepairsbeforerestartingandoperatingthe
lawnmower;
-iflawnmowerstartstovibrateabnormally(checkimmedi-
ately).
20.Stoptheengine
-wheneveryouleavethelawnmower;
-beforerefuelling.
21.Reducethethrottlesettingduringengineshutdownand,if
theengineisprovidedwithashut-offvalve,turnthefueloffat
theconclusionofmowing.
Maintenance and storage
1. Keepallnuts,boltsandscrewstighttobesureequipmentisin
safeworkingcondition.
2. Never store the equipment with petrol in the tank inside a
buildingwherefumesmayreachanopenflameorspark.
3. Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringinanyenclosure.
4. Toreducethefirehazard,keeptheengine,silencer,battery
compartmentandpetrolstorageareafreeofgrass,leavesor
excessivegrease.
5. Checkthegrasscatcherfrequentlyforwearordeterioration.
6. Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
7. Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,thisshouldbedoneout-
doors.
BEFORE OPERATING
Filling the crankcase with oil
Theengineissuppliedwithoutoilinthecrankcase.Therefore,be-
forestartingtheengine:
1. Placethemachineonaflatsurface.
2. Pullthedipstickout,unscrewingcapcounterclockwise(fig.1,
rif10).
3. Slowlypourabout0,65lofSAE10W-30(SF,SG,SH,SJ)oilinthe
sump.
4. Lettheoilsettleforacoupleofminutes.
5. Cleanthedipstickwitharagandreplaceitturningthecapina
clockwisedirection.
6. Pullthedipstickoutagainandcheckoillevelisjustbelowthe
“FULL”or“MAX”notch.
ATTENTION:
1. Do not fill beyond level as this may damage the engine.
2. To keep your engine in good working order, change the
oil after the first 8 hours of use and then every 50 working
hours.
3. If the mower is used in very dirty and dusty conditions,
change the oil more frequently.
4. For further information we recommend that you consult
the manual supplied by the engine manufacturer.
