Operating Checklist
Hazard control and accident prevention are dependent
upon the awareness, concern, prudence, and proper
training involved in the operation, transport, storage, and
maintenance of the Rotary Cutter. Therefore, it is
absolutely essential that no one operates the Rotary
Cutter without first having read, fully understood, and
become totally familiar with the Operator’s Manual. Make
sure the operator has paid particular attention to:

The following inspection should be performed before
using the cutter.
Safety Information

DANGER
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Allow only persons to operate this implement who have fullyÂ
read and comprehended this manual, who have been properlyÂ
trained in the safe operation of this implement, and who areÂ
age 16 or older. Serious injury or death can result from theÂ
inability to read, understand, and follow instructionsÂ
â¢
Do not operate a broken or bent driveline. Such a drivelineÂ
can break apart while rotating at high speeds causing seriousÂ
injury or death. Always remove implement from service untilÂ
the damaged driveline can be repaired or replaced.
â¢
Always disconnect driveline from tractor PTO shaft beforeÂ
servicing underside of cutter. If tractor is started with PTOÂ
engaged, the cutter can cause bodily injury or death.
â¢
Tractor PTO shaft shield, driveline shields, and gearbox shaftÂ
shields must be installed and in good working condition toÂ
avoid injury or death from driveline entanglement andÂ
projectiles flying off of the driveline.Â

Make sure all guards and shields are in place.Â
Refer to "Important Safety Information".
Follow hook-up & driveline installation. Refer toÂ
"Tractor Hook-Up" & "Driveline Installation".
Make all required adjustments.Â
Refer to "Section 3: Adjustments".
Preform all required maintenance. Refer toÂ
"Section 5: Maintenance & Lubrication".
Lubricate cutter and driveline as needed.Â
Refer to "Lubrication Points".
Lubricate all gearboxes and replace oil plugsÂ
properly. Refer to "Gearbox".
Check cutter initially and periodically for looseÂ
bolts and pins. Refer to âTorque Values Chartâ.
â¢
All guards and shields must be installed and in good workingÂ
condition while operating implement to avoid injury orÂ
â¢
Do not engage tractor PTO while hooking-up and unhookingÂ
driveline or while someone is standing near the driveline. AÂ
personâs body and/or clothing can become entangled in theÂ
driveline resulting in serious injury or death.
â¢
Keep others away while cutter is operating. It can dischargeÂ
objects at high speeds. The use of front and rear safety guardsÂ
is required when cutting along highways and in areas whereÂ
people may be present. Stop blade rotation if a bystander isÂ
â¢
Never place hands or feet under the deck or attempt to makeÂ
adjustments to the cutter with PTO engaged. Cutter bladesÂ
rotating at high speeds cannot be seen and are located closeÂ
to the deck housing. Body extremities can be cut off instantly.
â¢
Do not operate and/or travel across steep inclines whereÂ
tractor and/or implement can rollover resulting in seriousÂ
injury or death. Consult your tractorâs manual for acceptableÂ
inclines the tractor is capable of traveling across.
â¢
Do not use cutter as a fan. Cutting blades are not properlyÂ
designed or guarded for this use. Using cutter as a fan canÂ
!
WARNING
To avoid serious injury or death:
â¢
Do not over-speed PTO or equipment breakage may result.Â
Some tractors are equipped with multispeed PTO ranges. BeÂ
certain your tractorâs PTO does not exceed 540 RPM.
â¢
Always disengage PTO, put tractor in park or set park brake,Â
shut tractor engine off, remove ignition key, and wait forÂ
blades to come to a complete stop before dismounting tractor.
â¢
A rotating driveline must not exceed an angle of 25 degrees upÂ
or down, and never engage a driveline while at an angleÂ
exceeding 25 degrees up or down. The driveline can breakÂ
and send flying projectiles causing serious bodily injury orÂ
â¢
Always disengage PTO before lifting cutter fully up. NeverÂ
operate cutter in the raised position. The cutter can dischargeÂ
objects at high speeds resulting in serious injury or death.
â¢
Never carry riders on the tractor or implement. Riders can beÂ
struck by foreign objects, pinched by moving components,Â
thrown by sudden shifts in movement, entangled in rotatingÂ
components, can fall from equipment, or can obstruct theÂ
operatorâs view causing serious injury or death.
â¢
Do not use a PTO adapter. A PTO adapter will increase strainÂ
on the tractorâs PTO shaft resulting in possible damage toÂ
shaft and driveline. It will also defeat the purpose of theÂ
tractorâs PTO shield and could cause bodily injury or death.
â¢
Do not use deck as a working platform. It is not properlyÂ
designed or guarded for this use. Using it as a workingÂ
