RCF2060 and RCF2072 Rotary Cutters 326-459M
•
Keep blade bolt access hole covered at all times except whenÂ
servicing cutter blades. Make sure driveline is disconnectedÂ
from the tractor before servicing cutter blades.Â
â¢
Perform schedule maintenance. Check for loose hardware,Â
missing parts, broken parts, structural cracks, and high wear.Â
Make repairs before putting the implement back into service.Â
Serious breakdowns can result in injury or death.
â¢
Use this implement for its intended purpose only. Do not useÂ
implement to lift or carry objects; to pull fence posts, stumps,Â
or other objects; or to tow other equipment. Doing so canÂ
damage the unit, cause serious bodily injury, or death.
!
CAUTION
To avoid serious injury:
â¢
Buildup of debris around moving parts and gearboxes is a fireÂ
hazard. Keep rotating parts and gearboxes free from debris toÂ
avoid serious injury and property damage.
â¢
Improper oil level can cause bearing failure and be a fireÂ
hazard. Maintain proper gearbox oil level to avoid seriousÂ
â¢
Do not exceed rated cutting capacity of your cutter. SeeÂ
specifications & capacities for specified cutting capacity.Â
Exceeding ratted cutting capacities can damage driveÂ
components, cutter blades, and deck components.
Inspection of Tractor & Cutter
Make the following inspections with cutter attached to aÂ
tractor, PTO disengaged, and completely stopped:
1.
Park tractor and cutter on a level surface.Â
2.
Disengage PTO, place gear selector in park, set parkÂ
brake, shut tractor off, and remove switch key. MakeÂ
sure cutter blades have come to a complete stopÂ
before dismounting from tractor.Â
3.
Inspect tractor safety equipment to make sure it isÂ
installed and in good working condition.
4.
Inspect cutter safety equipment to make sure it isÂ
installed and in good working condition.Â
5.
Check driveline to make certain it is securelyÂ
connected to the tractor PTO shaft and cutterÂ
gearbox shaft. Also, make certain that the guards areÂ
in good working condition and in place.
6.
Carefully raise and lower implement to ensure thatÂ
the drawbar, tires, and other equipment on the tractorÂ
do not contact cutter frame or driveline.Â
7.
Check all hoses and wires to be sure that they will notÂ
come in contact with rotating driveline.
8.
With cutter deck resting on solid supports, PTOÂ
disengaged, and blade rotation completely stopped:
â¢
Check for and remove foreign objects wrappedÂ
around blade spindles.
â¢
Check for nicked, bent, broken, and worn cuttingÂ
blades. Replace or sharpen blades as required.Â
Refer toÂ
âCutter Blade MaintenanceâÂ
9.
Remove solid supports from under the deck.
10. Verify cutter is set at the correct cutting height. SeeÂ
âDeck Leveling & Cutting HeightâÂ
The remaining inspections are made by engaging theÂ
PTO to check for vibrations.
!
WARNING
Stop PTOÂ immediately if vibration continues after a fewÂ
revolutions during start-up and anytime thereafter. Wait forÂ
PTO to come to a complete stop before dismounting fromÂ
tractor to check for probable causes. Make necessary repairsÂ
and adjustments before continuing.
11. Start tractor, set throttle to idle or slightly above idle,Â
and slowly engage PTO. Initial start-up vibration isÂ
normal and should stop after a few revolutions. StopÂ
PTO rotation immediately if vibration continues.Â
12. Once cutter is running smoothly, increase tractorÂ
PTO speed to 540 RPM. Stop PTO rotationÂ
immediately if vibration occurs.
13. Investigate cause of vibration and make repairsÂ
before putting cutter back into service.
Transporting
!
WARNING
When traveling on roadways, transport in such a way thatÂ
other vehicles may pass safely. Use accessory lights, cleanÂ
reflectors, and a slow moving vehicle (SMV) sign that areÂ
visible to warn operators in other vehicles of your presence.Â
Always comply with all federal, state, and local laws.
1.
Make sure driveline does not contact tractor or cutterÂ
when raising cutter to transport position.
2.
Reduce tractor ground speed when turning and leaveÂ
enough clearance so cutter does not contactÂ
obstacles such as buildings, trees, or fences.
3.
Limit transport speed to 20 mph. Transport only withÂ
a tractor of sufficient size and horsepower.Â
4.
When traveling on roadways, transport in such a wayÂ
that faster moving vehicles may pass you safely.
5.
Shift tractor to a lower gear when traveling over roughÂ
or hilly terrain.
IMPORTANT:Â
Do not exceed implementâs rated PTOÂ
speed. Excessive speed will cause damage to theÂ
