Display functions
The receiver features additional facilities for controlling
the display. We considered it important to keep the unit's
front panel compact, easy to understand and easy to use,
and since these functions are seldom needed, they do
not have their own button.
The display functions are grouped together in a menu.
To call up the menu which offers the display control
facilities, simply hold the
button pressed in for
about a second.
The screen shows the first menu point:

The meaning of the four display functions is explained in
the next section.
• When you wish to activate the menu point which
actually appears on the screen, hold the
button pressed in for about a second until the word
'

' appears on the screen. The facility you have
selected is now switched on.
• You may want to interrupt the menu system without
activating a menu point (i.e. without changing any-
thing). To do this simply tap the
button briefly.
The receiver then returns to the normal display with-
out making any changes.
"
INP LEVEL" = field strength display
It can be very useful to have an accurate display of signal
field strength; particularly when setting up a rotary
antenna. The receiver provides a highly accurate and
finely graduated field strength display facility.
When you call up this function, the display first switches
to normal brightness, regardless of the previously set
brightness.
Next you will see an
'

L
' (Level) on the left of the screen
(instead of the preset number or tuning indicator),
followed by a numerical value.
The display range is 0 … 25. When you have finished
with the field strength display you can return to the
normal screen at any time by tapping the
button
briefly.

DISP NORM / DISP SOFT / DISP OFF"
Adjustment of display brightness
The brightness of the receiver 's screen can be adjusted
to suit your personal preference. Three levels are
available:
1. Normal setting:
"
DISP NORM"
Good legibility even in daylight and sunshine
2. Darkened:
"
DISP SOFT"
Restrained setting, for locations with subdued lighting
3. Display switched off:
"
DISP OFF"
The display is completely switched off
If brightness level 2 or 3 is selected, the display is acti-
vated and switched to normal brightness briefly every
time you operate a control. This makes it possible to
check the settings even from a distance.
After about 4 seconds the screen switches back auto-
matically to the selected brightness value. One effect of
this arrangement is that a newly selected brightness
value only becomes effective after a delay of about 4
seconds.
