Trouble shooting
Many problems have a simple cause and a correspond-
ingly simple solution. The following section describes a
few difficulties you may encounter, and the measures you
need to take to cure them. If you find it impossible to
solve a problem with the help of these notes please dis-
connect the unit from the mains and ask your authorised
specialist dealer for advice.
Problem:
Unit does not switch on (LED stays
dark).
Cause:
Mains lead not correctly plugged in.
Remedy:
Check and plug in firmly.
Problem:
The integral tuner's presets contain
incorrect settings.
Cause:
Static discharge or powerful interference
signals have corrupted the memory
contents.
Remedy:
Reset the receiver as follows: switch off
the device, then hold the
button
pressed in and switch the unit on again.
Hold the
button pressed in until
the message
'

' appears on the
screen. Now switch the unit off again
with the mains button, and switch on
again. All the unit's parameters are now
reset (returned) to the factory settings.
Problem:
The unit responds correctly when the
buttons are pressed, but cannot be
remote-controlled.
Cause 1:
Batteries in the remote control unit
inserted incorrectly or discharged.
Remedy:
Replace batteries, ensure they are
inserted correctly.
Cause 2:
Infra red sensor connected incorrectly,
or plug not pushed into the unit's
RC-IN
socket fully.
Remedy:
Complete the connections as shown in
the wiring diagram; push the plug in
firmly.
Cause 3:
Inefficient infra red sensor position.
Remedy:
Ensure direct line-of-sight contact
between remote control transmitter and
sensor (
E 2000). Note that glass doors
may prevent the system working proper-
ly. Maximum range between transmitter
and receiver approx. 8 metres. Position
the receiver in such a way that it is not
subjected to direct sunlight and strong
artificial
lighting.
Fluorescent
and
energy-saving lamps are powerful
sources of interference.
Problem:
The integral tuner and/or the external
source devices connected to the
receiver cannot be remote-controlled.
Cause:
The unit to be operated is not selected
as source device, i.e. the commands
from the remote control unit are being
routed to a different source unit.
Remedy:
Press the appropriate source button on
the remote control unit and try again.
Problem:
Whistling or whispering noises from
the speakers.
Cause:
The antenna lead is routed too close to
a mains, remote control or signal cable.
Remedy:
Move the leads so that they are spaced
well apart. Use the domestic (loft or
outside) antenna or a cable connection.
