Emergency Starting
Jump starting can be dangerous if done
incorrectly, so follow the procedure
carefully, to avoid harm to yourself or
damage to the vehicle battery. Carefully
follow the jump starting procedures. If you
feel unsure about jump starting, contact
an Authorised Mahindra Dealer.
Jump Starting
Follow below steps while jump starting
the vehicle:
1. Use only a 12V supply to start your
vehicle.
2. If the booster battery is in another
vehicle, position the two vehicles to
bring their batteries near each other.
Do not allow the two vehicles to
touch each other.
3. Apply the parking brake.Turn OFF all
electrical systems which are not
primarily required.
4. Attach the clamps of the jumper
cable as shown on the illustration.
First, attach one clamp of the jumper
cable to the positive terminal (B) of
the discharged battery. Then attach
the other end of the same cable to
the positive terminal (B) of the
booster battery. Next, using the other
c a bl e , a t tac h on e c l a m p t o t h e
negative terminal (A) of the booster
battery. Then attach the other end of
that cable to a solid metal part of the
engine (eg. engine lift bracket). Do
not connect the cable to any moving
part.
WARNING
• A battery can explode if you do
not follow the correct procedure,
causing serious injury to anyone
nearby.
• Keep all flames or sparks away
f r o m t h e b a t t e r y. T h e b a t t e r y
produces hydrogen gas which may
e xp lo de if exp os ed to flam e or
sparks.
CAUTION
Use only a 12 volt battery jumper
system. You can damage the start-
ing motor, ignition system, and
other electrical parts, using a 24 volt
battery jumper system.
