CONNECTING THE
HANDSET
Plug one end of the supplied coiled cord into
the modular jack on the left side of the
phone, and plug the other end into the modu-
lar jack on the handset. Then place the hand-
set on the cradle.
SETTING THE RINGER
VOLUME
To indicate which line has an incoming call,
Line 1 has a higher ringer sound than Line 2.
You can adjust the ringer volume of Lines 1
and 2 independently. To adjust the ringer
volume, set the separate
RINGER
switch at
right side to
HI
,
LO
or
OFF
. With the ringer off,
you can still answer calls if you hear an ex-
tension phone ring or see one of the phone’s
LINE indicators flash.
RINGER INDICATOR
The indicator flashes when either line rings.
In case of a power failure, the indicator flash-
es only when Line 1 rings. Line 2 does not
work without AC power.
SETTING THE DIALING
MODE
Set
TONE/PULSE
for the type of service you
have. If you are not sure which type you
have, do this simple test:
1. Be sure
TONE/PULSE
is set to
TONE
.
2. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.
3. Press any number except 0.
Note: If your phone company requires
that you dial an access code (9, for
example) before you dial an outside
number, do not press the access code.
4. If the dial tone stops, you have touch-
tone service. If the dial tone continues,
you have pulse service.
5. If you have pulse service, set
TONE/
PULSE
to
PULSE
. Otherwise, leave it set
to
TONE
.
CONFIRMING THE LINE
NUMBERS
To determine which phone number is con-
nected to which line, press
LINE 1
, then lift
the handset. Dial one of your phone num-
bers. If the
LINE 2
indicator flashes rapidly,
the number is connected to Line 2. If you
hear a busy signal, the number is connected
to Line 1.
