Drive shaft and lower case (regular rotation model)

TIP:
Install an oil seal halfway into the drive shaft
housing, and then install the other oil seal.
Installing the drive shaft
Do not reuse the bearing, always replace
it with a new one.
1.
Install the forward gear assembly.
2.
Install the sleeve a, drive shaft b, thrust
bearing c, and original shim(s) (T3) d.
3.
Install the pinion and pinion nut
temporarily.
TIP:
When installing the pinion, lift up the drive
shaft slightly and align the pinion and shaft
splines.
4.
Install a new O-ring e to the drive shaft
housing f, and then install the drive
shaft housing f into the lower case.
TIP:
Install the drive shaft housing with the cutout
a in the housing facing forward.
5.
Tighten the pinion nut to the specified
torque.
6.
Check that the drive shaft rotates
smoothly. If the drive shaft does not
rotate smoothly, reassemble the lower
unit.
Installing the propeller shaft housing
assembly
1.
Set the shift rod joint a and dog clutch
b to the N position.
2.
Install the washer c and propeller shaft
assembly d into the propeller shaft
housing assembly e.
3.
Apply grease to a new O-ring f and
propeller shaft housing assembly e.
