EQUIPMENT LIFE
At least every 12 years replace the
smokedetector.
PoSSIBLE CAUSES FoR A FALSE ALARM
• Very intense cooking, water and/or
roasting vapours, air freshener,
perfume or insecticide sprays,
pollen,finedust,dustfromcon-
struction or grinding work have
enteredtheunit.
• Thesmokealarmisbeingaffected
byextremetemperaturefluctua-
tions or very strong electromag
netic radiation in immediate proxi-
mitytotheunit.
• An alarm can only be activated by
cigarette smoke if the smoke enters
the unit directly or in very high
concentrations.Theunitshouldbe
protected from the abovemen-
tioned environmental conditions to
preventafalsealarm.
• one or more very small insects or
other small organisms have broken
throughtheunit’sinsectbarriers.
Thiscanberectifiedbycarefully
cleaning the unit with a vacuum
cleaner.
Always ensure that rooms are well
ventilated when you are cooking food
or when large amounts of water
vapourarebeingproduced.Afalse
alarm can be stopped or prevented by
gently pressing the test and stop
button (IV) and thoroughly ventilating
theaffectedrooms.
Please notify your neighbours in the
event of a false alarm, as they might
otherwisemistakenlyalarmthefire
brigade!
The unit gives an early warning if its
energy capacity is low or if the detec-
tion optics have become so full of
imperfections that readjustment is
nolongerpossible.Thisgivesyou
sufficienttimetoreplacethesmoke
alarmwithanewunit.
Please ensure that the air inlets locat-
ed around the edge of the smoke
alarm are never blocked by dust,
dirt,paintofadhesivetape.
You should check that the unit is
functional on a regular basis, at least
once a month, by pressing the test
andstopbutton(Fig.5)toactivatea
testalarm.Checkthattheunitisfree
from damage, that it is held tightly in
