As a minimum requirement

smoke alarms should be installed in
all bedrooms, children’s rooms and
corridors that function as escape
routes, only in the middle of the
ceiling(nowallmounting).
Choose the highest point to install
the unit, ensuring that it is posi-
tioned at least 50 cm away from
surrounding walls, furniture and
lamps.Toprovideoptimumprotec-
tion
RM
for your home, install units
in all the other rooms and in the
stairwells.Theunitisalsosuitable
for use in the kitchen (the most com-
monlocationforhouseholdfires).
In most cases, there is no need to
install a smoke alarm in washrooms
(bathrooms,toilets,etc.)suchrooms
representalowfirerisk.
Please observe the diagrams included
intheseinstructions.
Theunitcandetectafireearlyon
on the basis of the rising smoke and
the connected temperature increase
inthetemperatureintheroom.
Intheeventoffire,aloudalarmtone
soundsasawarning.Ifyouaresure
that there is no genuine need to evac-
uate the building, you can temporar-
ily deactivate the alarm tone (for roughly
10 minutes)ordisablethetonebefore
it is activated by gently pressing the
unit’stestandstopbutton (IV).
In such a case, it is advisable to venti-
latetheaffectedroomswelltoprevent
the alarm from being activated a
secondtime.
BATTERY FAULT WARNING
If a single brief signalling tone (“beep”)
sounds roughly every 90 seconds, the
batterycapacityislow.Ifadouble
brief signalling tone (“beep-beep”)
sounds roughly every 90 seconds, the
unitisnolongerabletofilterout
imperfectionsinthedetectionoptics.
Both signalling tones can be tempo-
rarily deactivated (for 24 hours) by
pressingthetestandstopbutton(IV).
If the smoke alarm is emitting either
of the above-described signalling
• Heat alarm tone: single beep, once
a second
• Smoke alarm tone: double beep,
once a second
