SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Training
1. Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the con-
trolsandtheproperuseoftheequipment.
2. Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these in-
structions to use the lawnmower. Local regulations may
restricttheageoftheoperator.
3. Nevermowwhilepeople,especiallychildren,orpetsare
nearby.
4. Keepinmindthattheoperatororuserisresponsibleforacci-
dentsorhazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheirproperty.
Preparation
1. Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantialfootwearandlong
trousers.Donotoperatetheequipmentwhenbarefootor
wearingopensandals.
2. Thoroughlyinspecttheareawheretheeuipmentistobe
usedandremoveallobjectswhichmaybethrownbythe
machine.
3. WARNING-Petrolishiglyflammable.
-Storefuelincontainersspecificallydesignedforthispur-
pose.
-Refueloutdoorsonlyanddonotsmokewhilerefuelling.
- Add fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the
capofthefueltankoraddpetrolwhiletheengineisrun-
ningorwhentheengineishot.
-Ifpetrolisspilled,donotattempttostarttheenginebut
move the machine away from the area of spillage and
avoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilpetrolvapours
havedissipated.
-Replaceallfueltanksandcontainercapssecurely.
4. Replacefaultysilencers.
5. Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblades,
bladeboltsandcutterassemblyarenotwornordamaged.
Replacewornordamagedbladesandboltsinsetstopre-
servebalance.
Operation
1. Donotoperatetheengineinaconfinedspacewheredan-
gerouscarbonmonoxidefumescancollect.
2. Mowonlyindaylightoringoodartificiallight.
3. Avoidoperatingtheequipmentinwetgrass,wherefeasible.
4. Alwaysbesureofyourfootingonslopes.
5. Walk,neverrun.
6. For wheeled rotary machines, mow across the face of
slopes,neverupandown.
7. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on
slopes.
8. Donotmowexcessivelysteepslopes.
9. Useextremecautionwhenreversingorpullingthelawn-
mowertowardsyou.
10.Stop the blade(s) if the lawnmower has to be tilted for
transportation when crossing surfaces other than grass
and when transporting the lawnmower to and from the
areatobemowed.
11.Never operate the lawnmower with defective guards, or
withoutsafetydevices,forexapledeflectorsand/orcatch-
ers,inplace.
12.Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsoroverspeed
theengine.
13.Disengagetransmissionbeforestartingtheengine.
14.Starttheengineorswitchonthemotorcarefullyaccording
toinstructionsandwithfeetwellawayfromtheblade(s).
15.Do not tilt the lawnmower when starting the engine or
switching on the motor, except if the lawnmower has to
betiltedforstarting.Inthiscase,donottiltitmorethan
absolutelynecessaryandliftonlythepartwhichisaway
fromtheoperator.
16.Donotstarttheenginewhenstandinginfrontofthedis-
chargechute.
17.Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.Keep
clearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
18.Never pick up or carry a lawnmower while the engine is
running.
19.Stoptheengineanddisconnectthesparkplugwire:
-beforeclearingblockagesoruncloggingchute;
-beforechecking,cleaningorworkingonthelawnmower;
-afterstrikingaforeignobject.Inspectthelawnmowerfor
damageandmakerepairsbeforerestartingandoperating
thelawnmower;
-iflawnmowerstartstovibrateabnormally(checkimme-
diately).
20.Stoptheenginewheneveryouleavethelawnmowerand
beforerefuelling.
21.Reducethethrottlesettingduringengineshutdownand,
iftheengineisprovidedwithashut-offvalve,turnthefuel
offattheconclusionofmowing.
Maintenance and storage
1. Keepallnuts,boltsandscrewstighttobesureequipment
isinsafeworkingcondition.
2. Neverstoretheequipmentwithpetrolinthetankinsidea
buildingwherefumesmayreachanopenflameorspark.
3. Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringinanyenclosure.
4. Toreducethefirehazard,keeptheengine,silencer,bat-
tery compartment and petrol storage area free of grass,
leavesorexcessivegrease.
5. Checkthegrasscatcherfrequentlyforwearordeteriora-
tion.
6. Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
7. Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,thisshouldbedoneout-
doors.
BEFORE OPERATING
Filling the crankcase with oil (fig. 2)
Theengineissuppliedwithoutoilinthecrankcase.Therefore,
beforestartingtheengine:
1. Placethemachineonaflatsurface.
2. Pullthedipstickout,unscrewingcapcounterclockwise.
3. Slowly pour about 0,60 l of SAE 30 (SE,SF, SG) oil in the
sump.
4. Lettheoilsettleforacoupleofminutes.
5. Cleanthedipstickwitharagandreplaceitturningthecap
inaclockwisedirection.
6. Pullthedipstickoutagainandcheckoillevelisjustbelow
the“FULL”or“MAX”notch.
ATTENTION:
1. Do not fill beyond level as this may damage the engine.
2. To keep your engine in good working order, change the
oil after the first 2 hours of use and then every 25 working
hours.
