Yourvideosystemwillcheckiftheenteredaccesscodeisvalidbycompar-
ingthecodewiththeallowedcodeslistedinthe
access.txtfilelocated
ontheftp-serverinyourlocalvideosystem.
Ifno
access.txtfilehasbeenuploadedtotheCodecofyourlocalvideo
system,thecodeenteredwillberegistered,butnovalidationwilltake
place.E.g.youcanenterwhatevercodeyouwantandstillhaveaccessto
thesystem.Note,however,thatyoumustenteracodewhenever

inthevideosystem.
The
access.txtfileisaplaintextfilewithonelineperaccesscode.
Asanexampleofan
access.txtfile,considerthefollowing:

Maximumlengthofeachaccesscodeis16characters,andyoucanhave
asmanyaccesscodesasyouwant.Youmayuseanycombinationofthe
alphanumericcharactersavailablebymeansofyourTANDBERGRemote

To upload access codes to the system, follow these steps:
OnyourPCcreatethefiletobeusedasalistofvalidaccesscodesand
saveitas
access.txt
MakesureyourPCandyourvideosystemcancommunicateviaIP
OpenaDOS-windowandgotothefolderwherethe
access.txtfileis

About Access Code Applications
Asanadministratoryoumaysetupthesystemtorequest
codestobeenteredbeforeacallcanbemade.These
codesarereferredtoas
Access Codes
andcanbeused
todefinethetypesofcallsmade(internal/external/toan
invoicableclientetc.).
Inthiswayyoumaygathercallstatistics,whichinturncan
beusedforanalysis,tobillexternalclients,ortobilldiffer-
entgroupsofuserswithinyourcompany.
Accesscodesmaybemadecompulsoryandrestrictedin
thesensethatonlyacertainsetofvalidaccesscodesis
available.
Avalidcodemustthenbeenteredbeforeacallcanbe
made.
Alternatively,accesscodesmaybemadecompulsory,but
withoutrestriction.Youwillthenstillbepromptedtokey
inanaccesscode.Nocallcanbemadewithoutaccess
codeenteredevenhere,butinthiscaseyoumay–literally
speaking–keyinanycodeyouwant.
Kindlyobservethatrestrictingtheaccesscodestoa
limitedsetofvalidcodesisbynomeansaprerequisitefor
billing.
Considerthefollowing:Yoursystemmayhavebeencon-
figuredtoworkinasetupinvolvingaTMS(TANDBERGMan-
agementSuite)system.Asdefault,yoursystemthentrans-
mitscallinformationtoTMS.Thisinformationincludesany
accesscodesappliedtothecalls.Hence,theTMSsystem
mayalwaysutilizeanyaccesscodeinformationavailable,
forstatisticsandforbilling.
Tomakeaccesscodescompulsory,set

inthemenu.Torestrictthevalidcodespacetoacer-
tainsetofpredefinedcodes,anaccesscodetextfilemust
beuploadedtoyourlocalvideosystem–seesidebarsto
theright.
Ifnosuchfileexistsinthesystemand

,thesystemwillpromptyoutokeyinanaccess
code,butanycodewilldo.Nocallcanbemadewithoutan
accesscodebeingkeyedin.
