Installation
The GBW 300 water heater must be installed outside the passenger
cabin.
IMPORTANT
– The statutory regulations and other directives governing installation
set out on pages 1 and 2 must be adhered to.
– Do not install the heater near hot parts carrying exhaust fumes.
– There must be no inflammable and absorbent materials in the
vicinity.
– There must be not oil filler neck or oil filters above the heater.
– The adjustable gas jet on the burner must be freely accessible.
NOTE:
Check the installation situation of the relevant vehicle type.
4.1.
Installation location
The heater and circulating pump are to be integrated into the cooling
system.
The heater and the circulating pump must be installed in as low a
position as possible to allow the heater and circulating pump to be bled
automatically. This is particularly important as the circulating pump is not
self-priming.
If it is not possible to install the heater in the vehicle’s engine bay it may
be installed in a box. The installation box must have sufficient external
ventilation to ensure that the maximum temperature of 85 °C is not
exceeded in the box.
Adequate external ventilation of at least 100 cm
2
must be provided at
the highest point of the installation space for the NGW 300 and at the
lowest point of the installation point for the LGW 300.
The ventilation opening must be positioned in such a way that no gas
can ingress into the interior.
Bear in mind the space required for servicing accessibility when
installing the heater. It must be possible to remove the burner head and
combustion chamber must (see Figure 3), and the temperature limiter
and control thermostat must be accessible.
4.2.
To install the heater
The heater may be secured either with four screws M8 (Figure 2/Item 1)
or with four screws and nuts (Figure 2/Item 2).
