5.2 GMA 35
Removal
1. Remove power from the audio panel. Bell and MD Helicopter Models: This is accomplished by
pulling the Audio Panel circuit breaker. Eurocopter Models: Power is removed from the GMA by
switching off the avionics master relay.
2. Ensure that the GTN(s) are not receiving power prior to removal of the audio panel.
3. Remove the GTN 7XX.
4. Locate the GMA 35 unit retention mechanism access hole at the bottom center of the unit face.
5. Insert a 3/32-inch hex tool into the access hole and rotate the fastener counterclockwise until the
unit is forced out about 3/8 inch and can be freely pulled from the rack
6. Slide the GMA 35 unit out of the rack.
Reinstallation
1. Ensure that the audio panel and the GTN units are not receiving power.
2. Slide the GMA 35 straight into the rack until it stops.
3. Insert a 3/32-inch hex drive into the unit retention mechanism access hole at the bottom of the unit
face and rotate the tool clockwise while pressing on the face of the unit until the GMA 35 is firmly
seated in the rack.
4. Reinstall the GTN 7XX.
5. Verify that there are no failure messages or annunciations when the GTN and audio panel are
powered on.
CAUTION
Avoid overtightening the unit into the rack. The application of hex drive tool torque
exceeding 15 in-lbs can damage the locking mechanism.
