CAUTION
Prolonged periods of idling after the
engine has reached operating tem-
peratures can decrease engine tem-
perature and could cause engine
damage from inadequate lubrica-
tion. The normal torsional vibrations
generated can also cause transmis-
sion wear. An idle shutdown feature,
available on PACCAR engines, can
be programmed to shut the engine
down after a period of low idle opera-
tion with no driver activity. A flashing
warning lamp will inform the driver
of an impending shutdown. Failure
to comply may result in equipment
or property damage.
CAUTION
If the truck is equipped with PTO
equipment, the engine shutdown
system can be deactivated when the
PTO is operational; however, engine
idle periods should not exceed 5
minutes whenever possible. Failure
to comply may result in equipment
or property damage.
