Operating Instructions
System EMI Susceptibility
PACCAR products are designed
and tested for minimum sensitivity
to incoming electromagnetic energy.
The fuel system EMI susceptibility
has been designed with a high
tolerance against EMI and in most
normal circumstances, if not all,
electromagnetic energy-emitting
devices that meet the Federal
Communications Commission legal
requirements should cause no
interference.
System EMI Radiation Levels
Electronic components are required
to pass various PACCAR and industry
EMI specifications. Our testing
has shown that when the engine is
properly installed and maintained, it
will not interfere with properly installed
onboard communication equipment.
If any interference condition is noticed,
follow these suggestions to reduce the
amount of EMI:
1. Locate the accessory receiving
antenna further away.
2. Check with the accessory supplier
representative in your area to:
°
Accurately calibrate the
accessory for proper
frequency, power output,
and sensitivity.
°
Determine the optimum
antenna location by obtaining
antenna reflective energy data
measurements.
°
Ensure that the optimum
antenna type and mounting
arrangement is being used.
°
Ensure the accessory
equipment is properly
constructed for maximum
filtering to reject incoming
electromagnetic noise.
