c) PREPARING THE MACHINE
Starting up for the first time
Thefirsttimeyouusethemachine,orifithasnotbeenusedforalong
time,thefollowingmustbedone:
• Removethetank(#2,Fig.3)fromthemachine,rinseitwellwithwater
andputitbackinthemachinemakingsureitisfittedproperly.
• Makesurethelever(#5,Fig.4)isdown,andthenplaceacuponthe
cuprest(#7,Fig.4).
• Pressthepowerswitch(#13,Fig.1)toturnthemachine“ON”;thelight
(#12,Fig.1)goeson.
Water filling
• Openthetanklid(#3,Fig.2)andpourcoldwaterintothetank
(#2,Fig.2),thenputbackthelid(#3,Fig.2).
Electric connection
Make sure that the power switch (#13, Fig. 1) is in the “OFF”
position, then connect the machine to the electricity by
inserting the plug (#8, Fig. 1) in the socket.
Starting up the machine
• Makesurethereisenoughwaterinthetank(#2,Fig.1);ifnot,fillwater
asexplainedinsection“WaterFilling”section.
• Pressthepowerswitch(#13,Fig.1)toturnthemachine“ON”;light
(#12)comesontoindicatepowerisswitchedon.
• Heatingofthewaterinthetankstartsautomatically.
• Waitforthewatertoreachtherighttemperatureasindicatedbythe
illuminationofthetemperature-readylight(#11Fig.1).
5) MAKING COFFEE
1-Openthecapsule-insertioncompartment(#4,Fig.l)byraisingthelever
(#5,Fig.5).
2-Placeacapsule(#14,Fig.5)inthecapsuleinsertionslot(#4,Fig.5).
3-Lowerthelever(#5,Fig.5)toclosedposition.
4-Waitforthewatertoreachtherighttemperatureasindicatedbythe
illuminationofthetemperature-readylight(#11,Fig.1).
5-Placeacuponthecuprest(#7,Fig.4)andpresstheswitch(#9or#10,
Fig.1)tostartdispensingcoffee.Whentheproperamounthasbeen
dispensed the machine will stop automatically.
6-Whendispensingisfinished,ifyouwanttomakeanothercoffee,raise
thehandle(#5,Fig.5)totheopenposition,insertanewcapsule,and
theusedcapsuleisautomaticallyunloadedintothedrawer(#6,Fig.4).
Note:Afterdispensingcoffeealwaysleavethecapsule-insertion
compartment(#4,Fig.5)closed,(#5,Fig.4).
The capsule drawer (#6, Fig. 6) can hold a maximum of 15 capsules,
after which it absolutely must be emptied. To do this simply pull the
drawer outwards. It is advisable to empty the capsules from the
drawer (#6, Fig. 1) after making 6-8 coffees.
6) PROGRAMMING DOSES
Ifyouwishtoalterthedefaultsettingsandcustomizetheamountof
coffeedispensed:
• Holddownthe«longespresso»button(#9,Fig.1),andswitchonthe
machine.Theindicatorlight(12Fig.1)willblinkquickly.
• Releasethelongespressobuttonandopenthecapsule-insertion
compartment(#4,Fig.l)byraisingthelever(#5,Fig.5)
• Placeacapsule(#13,Fig.5)inthecapsuleinsertionslot(#4,Fig.5)
• Lowerthelever(#5,Fig.5)toclosedposition.
• Holddownthekeyrelatingtheespressosizethatyouwanttoprogam,
andreleaseitonlywhenthelengthofthedesireddoseisreached.
• Repeatthesameoperationtoprogramthe“shortespresso”key.
• Toconfirmtheprogrammingoperation,switchoffthemachineand
switchitonagain(#13,Fig.1).
7) MACHINE MAINTENANCE
a) CLEANING THE MACHINE
Before doing any cleaning, ALWAYS disconnect the plug
(#8, Fig, 1) from the power socket.
• Useadampclothtocleanthebodyofthemachine(1Fig.1).
Donotuseabrasivedetergents.
• Neverimmersethemachinebody(#1,Fig.1)inwaterorotherliquids.
• Neverwashthemachinebody(1Fig.1)inthedishwasher.
• Removethecuprest(7Fig.1)andthebasin(6Fig.1),andwashthem
with any ordinary dishwashing soap.
• Periodicallyremovethewatertank(2Fig.3)andrinseitwith
clean water.
b) DESCALING THE MACHINE
• Descalethemachineperiodically.(Thefrequencyofthisoperation
dependsonthehardnessofthewaterused.)
• Pourameasureofdescalingliquidintothetank(#2,Fig.1)andfollow
themanufacturer’sinstructions.
Only use solutions suited for espresso coffee machines.
• Makesurethatthereisacapsuleinthecapsule-compartment(4Fig.1)
• Lowerthelever(5Fig.1).
• Startthemachineasexplainedinthesection“Startingupthemachine”.
• Placeavesselwithacapacityofabout500cconthegrid(7Fig.1).
• Dispensehotwater3-4timesbypressingbutton(#9Fig.1).
Repeat the operations described above, using clean water only. This
will remove residues of the solution from the circuit. Rinse the tank
(#2, Fig. 1) well, and dry it before using the machine again.
