Operating Considerations in Release 3.0.5
77
If you have defined four trunk groups on one of these modules,
remove one trunk group before you upgrade to Release 3.0.0.
■
3Com recommends that you enable the Trunk Control Message
Protocol (TCMP) on each end station of a trunk. If this protocol is not
enabled on both end stations, TCMP cannot correctly validate trunk
configuration rules. (29581)
■
When moving a staged module, the trunking configuration is learned
from the fabric when automapping is used. (27113)
Packet Filtering
■
Custom packet filters cannot filter for MAC destination address (DA)
or source address (SA) for Layer 3 traffic (not only IP but all routed
traffic). (27596)
■
The system does not filter for MAC addresses if the frame is going to
be routed and the filter contains a Destination Port Group Mask
(DPGM). (25028)
■
When you make multiple port filter assignments through SNMP, an
SNMP operation may return an incorrect value.
Virtual Router
Redundancy Protocol
(VRRP)
■
VRRP is not supported on overlapped, untagged, network-based IP
VLANs. (A “network-based” IP VLAN is a VLAN with a Layer 3 address
that is used to determine VLAN membership.) If the overlapped ports
are 802.1Q tagged, then VRRP is supported. (28616)
IP
■
On a VLAN, the IP interfaces statistics inReceives, inForwards, and
outForward fields are counted one time for each interface. (29295)
■
The Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) is enabled by default. If
end stations ignore ICMP redirects, the system may generate repeated
ICMP redirects, resulting in performance issues.
■
In allOpen mode, if ICMP redirects are enabled, packets routed
through VLANs that contain multiple interfaces are processed in the FP
(slow path). When multiple IP interfaces are defined for a VLAN, set
the ICMP redirect to
disable
to restore performance (fast path).
IP Multicast
■
To optimize IP multicast performance, do not configure multiple
tagged VLANs over backplane ports.
AppleTalk
■
When you remove an AppleTalk interface, you are not prompted with
an
Are you sure
message. The change happens immediately. (26041)
