Installation Precautions
Hard Drive
If you install the optional hard drive in the printer, it will significantly increase the
amount of memory available for processing jobs and storing downloaded information
(such as fonts, forms, overlays (macros) and Secure Print and Proof Print jobs).
The hard drive is used for the following:
■
Support of the PostScript file system
■
Support of the PJL/PCL file system
■
Receiving raw (unprocessed) data for Secure Print and Proof Print jobs
■
Downloading fonts, forms, and overlays
■
TIFF and PDF printing
Installation
Follow this procedure to install the hard drive:
1.
Turn off the printer and disconnect the cables and power cord.
2.
Remove the screws that secure the controller board and slide the controller board out
of the printer. Place it on a stable horizontal surface.
