• Whenoperatingyoursubwoofer,onnoaccounteverlayitwiththepanelcontainingtheswitches,
controlsandinput/outputsocketsfacingdownasthiscouldcausetheunittooverheat;pleaseensure
a minimum distance of 5cm around the apparatus for sufficent ventilation. The woofer, the bass
reflexopeningandpossibleexistingventilationopeningsshouldneverbecoveredwithitemssuchas
newspapers,table-cloths,curtains,etc.
• Onnoaccounteverinsertahand,armoranyobjectintoaloudspeaker’ssoundoutlets(e.g.bass
reflexpipe)asthiscouldcauseinjuryormaterialdamage.At particular risk in this respect
are children and pets.
• Allowno-onebutappropriatelyqualifiedserviceengineerstocarryouttechnicalmaintenanceand
repairworkonyouractiveloudspeaker.Thiswillbenecessaryintheeventofanyformofdamage,
i.e.damagedmainscablesandplugs,orwhensomeobjecthasfallenontothespeakercabinetor
iftheunititselfhasfallenoverorbeendropped,orifithasbeenpenetratedbyanytypeofliquid.
Neveropenupthedeviceyourselfsinceanyphysicalcontactwhatsoeverwiththemainsvoltage
(230V/115V)canhavefatalconsequences.
• Neveruseactiveloudspeakersasseatingorclimbuponthem(insteadofusingaladder)!
• Yourloudspeakerunitshavebeendesignedforlongyearsofhomeuseandshouldnotthereforebe
usedforprofessionalpurposes.
• Forthepurposesofmountingandplacementoftheseproducts,pleaseonlyusefurnitureandother
devicesthatareobtainablefromthemanufacturerandmarketedforortogetherwiththeproductin
question.Takeextremecarewhenmovinganytabledevicesorshelvesuponwhichtheproductsare
placedastheunitscouldotherwisetiporfalloverandcausedamageorinjury.
• Avoid placing your loudspeakers anywhere with high levels of humidity or dampness. Permanent
relativehumidityorexposuretodirectsunlight(UVradiation)cancausewarpingofwoodenspeaker
cabinetsorleadtotheirprematureagingandthusaffecttheunit'sperformance.Besides,donot
positionthesubwooferdirectlyadjacenttosourcesofheat,e.g.radiators.Moreover,donotplace
nakedflamesources,suchaslightedcandlesonthespeakercabinet.
• Ourfittingaccessoriesshouldonlybeusedtoinstallproductsthatwehavespecificallydesignedfor
wallmounting.Takespecialcaretoensurethatallcomponentsaresecurelyscrewedintoplace!We
alsorecommendusingadditionalsafeguards,forexamplechains,etc.toensuresecureandsafe
mounting.
• Loudspeakersinoperationforlongperiodsatexcessivelyhighvolumelevelsarenotonlyasource
ofdisturbanceforneighboursbutcanalsohaveserioushealth-relatedconsequencesfortheuseras
well!
• LoudspeakerswithoutmagneticshieldingcancausediscolorationordistortionoftheTVpicture.To
avoidthis,placenon-shieldedloudspeakersatleast50cmclearoftheTVset.Pleaseavoiddeposit-
ing,forexample,creditcards,diskettes,audioorvideocassettesoranyotherformofmagneticdata
carriersonthespeakercabinetasthiscouldotherwiseleadtolossofdatastoredonsuchobjects.
Likewise,donotplaceandoperatemagnetictapedevicesinthedirectvicinityofsuchloudspeak-
ers.
• Pleasedonotthrowthepackagingawayasyoumightpossiblyneeditfortransportationoftheloud-
speakersystematalaterdate. Keep the polythene bags out of the reach of children since
they can cause asphyxiation if used for any other than their intended purpose.
Setting up
Besides the unit’s actual settings, a subwoofer’s bass reproduction essentially depends on
wheretheunitispositionedinthelisteningroom.Proximitytowallsorevenplacementin
acornermakesthebasssoundcomeoverlouder–butalsolesswelldefinedandaccurate
–thanifinamorefree-standingposition.Sincetheacousticcharacteristicsdifferfromroom
toroom,werecommendfindingtheoptimumcompromisebetweenbassvolumeandpreci-
sionbysimpletrialanderror.Itwon’tmatterifyousetupthesubwoofernearertotheleft
handsatellitethantherighthandone–orviceversa–sincethelowbasssoundsarenot
localizable.
Ifyoursubwooferdirectsitssounddownwards,youmustfitthesuppliedloudspeakerfoot,
whichcanbedesignedas„spikes“aswell(dependingonthemodel),beforeyoustarttouse
thesystem.
Operating modes
Units with a POWER switch for mains and a POWER switch for stand-by:
IfthemainsPOWERswitchisinOFFposition,theunitisturnedoffcompletely.Ifthemains
POWERswitchisinONposition,theswitchforstand-byoperatesasfollows:
ON:
Theunitispermanentlyon.
STANDBY:Theunitswitchesonautomatically,ifamusicsignalisreceivedandauto-
maticallyswitchestostand-bymodeafterapproximately15minutes,ifno
musicsignalisreceived.
OFF:
Thefunctionsareswitchedoff.Theamplifierwillbekeptattemperatureto
continueoperationsoon.
Units with POWER switch for mains and AUTO switch for stand-by:
IfthemainsPOWERswitchisinOFFposition,theunitisturnedoffcompletely.Ifthemains
