Starting up
Havingcorrectlyconnectedupyoursubwooferasdescribedintheabove,firstswitchonyour
amplifier.Nowswitchonyoursubwooferbymeansofthemainsswitchontherearpanel.
Theindicatormustthenlightup.Whenitdoesso,thismeansthatyoursubwooferisnow
readyforoperation.
Whentheunithasbeenswitchedonyoucannowadjustthesubwoofertoachievetheideal
balance.Thiswillonlybenecessaryonceunlessyoupurchasenewspeakers.Inthiscaseyou
willhavetobalancethesubwooferagainwiththenewspeakers.
Nowputyoursystemintooperationwithamusicsignal.FirstsettheFrequencycontrolto
centre(neutral)position.NowslowlyturntheVolumecontrolclockwiseuntilatonalbalance
isestablishedinthebassrangebetweenthesubwooferandyoursatellites.Youcanusethe
Frequencycontroltoadjustthecrossoverrange.
Thegeneralruleshereare:
largesatellites(boxes),turnthecontrolfurtheranticlockwise
and
smallsatellites(boxes),turnthecontrolfurtherclockwise.
HavingadjustedtheFrequencycontrolitmightbenecessarytoreadjusttheVolumecontrol
toachieveanidealtonalbalanceagain.Thesuperimpositionofyoursatellites’soundwaves
andthoseofthesubwoofercanleadtointerferenceatyourlisteningposition.Atworst,this
meansthatthebasssoundyouheartherewillbenomorethan“subdued“despitecorrect
settingofFrequencyandVolumecontrols.Ifthisisthecase,pleaseturnthePhasecontrolon
therearpaneltothe0°or10°position(notpossiblewiththeSUB45).
At a point of the Phase control you will notice the bass sound becoming more powerful
andpunchy.Byexperimentingandlisteningyouwillthusfindtheidealsettingtosuityour
requirements.
Pleasenote:Alwaysbearinmindthatthesettingofthesubwoofershouldbecarriedoutto
suityourlisteningposition.Thatmeansthatwhenadjustingacontrolyoushouldalwaysreturn
toyourlisteningpositiontohearwhetheryouradjustmenthasapositiveeffectthere.
5.Subwooferelectronic

Switch for upper transition frequency:
WhentheselectorswitchissetatVAR,theFREQUENCYcon-
trollerregulatestheuppercrossoverfrequency.
WhentheselectorissetatFLAT,thesubwooferwilloperateup
intothelowermidrangesandrequirestheactivefilteringofan
AVreceiverorAVamplifier.
Operating the subwoofer using the Sub Out
terminal of a surround amplifier
Ifyoursurroundamplifieroffersyoutheoptionofadjustingthevolumeofthesubwoofervia
thebassmanagementfacilitywerecommendthatyouproceedasfollows:
Adjustthesubwoofer'svolumecontrolswitchtothe"neutral"position,andtheFrequencycon-
trolswitchtothe"maximum"position.Nowcarryoutavolumetestonthesurroundamplifier,
settingthesatellitesandthesubwoofertoidenticalvolumelevels.
Pleaserefertotheoperatinginstructionssuppliedwithyoursurroundamplifierfordetailson
volumeadjustment.
