Chapter 2 — Overview and Operation
123
SCSI Command Error Conditions
After the last transfer to fill the 128K, the decoder will return Good status to the
requesting initiator. All other initiator IDs will be set to “Unit attention, microcode
has changed.”
If the supplied microcode is invalid, then “Illegal request, invalid field within
parameter list” is returned.
Unsupported SCSI Command Codes
All other SCSI command codes which are not supported by the decoder will return:
“Illegal request, invalid command operation code.
”
MPEG Decoder Playback Errors
During the playback of MPEG files through the decoder, error conditions can
result from a lack of data or from MPEG stream syntax errors. These errors are
not the result of bad SCSI commands, but are a result of corrupt or insufficient
data to the decoder. The only mechanism to report these errors back to the host
system is through the returned SCSI Status and subsequent request sense data.
See “MPEG Decoder Playback Errors” on page 133 for additional information.
SCSI Parity Error Handling
Parity Errors during the Command phase (receiving the CDB)
The decoder will send a Restore Data Pointer message to the Host (Initiator),
then will try to receive the command again.
