Configuring the Unit’s Ports
You can view and change information about the ports on the unit
using the command line interface. You can:

Enable and disable the ports.
■
View information about the status of the ports.
To view and change information about the ports on another unit in
the stack, use the
unit
command to change unit; refer to
“Configuring Another Unit in the Stack”
on
page 50
.
Enabling and Disabling the Ports
By default, all ports on the unit are enabled. To prevent unauthorized
access to the unit, we recommend that you disable any ports that are
not being used.
To configure a port:
1 At the top-level menu, enter:
ethernet portState
2 You are prompted for the port number:
Select Ethernet port (1-26):
Enter the number of the port (ports 25 and 26 are the transceiver
module ports).
3 Enable or disable the port as required.
Displaying the Port Status
To view the port status information:
1 At the top-level menu, enter:
ethernet summary
2 You are prompted for the port number:
Select Ethernet port (1-26,all) [all]:
Enter the number of the port (ports 25 and 26 are the transceiver
module ports), or enter
all
if you wish to view all of the ports.
The command line interface displays the port status, including the
number of packets, octets and errors it has received, similar to this
example:
