Creating New Elements
Selecting Element Size
A good guide for the size of an element is to split the screen into
a grid. The resolution of full screen PAL is 720 X 576 pixels, if this
is divided by three each grid section is 240 X 192 pixels.
Depending on how much of the screen you want to fill up with a
gauge for example, will depend on how much bigger or smaller
than one of the sections you decide to make it.
The example on the left shows a dial in the bottom right of the overlay
which uses a background image with a size of 244 X 200 pixels. You can
see from the screenshot that it takes up approximately 1/9
th
of the total
screen area.
If you divide each large grid section by three again, each smaller
grid section is 80 X 64 pixels in size.
You can see from the example above that the Video VBOX LITE
logo takes up slightly less than 1/3 the width of the screen and
less than 1/3 the height of a large grid section with a size of 206
X 48 Pixels.
