3: Setting Range properties
This defines the Minimum and Maximum values to be displayed by the Gauge. In the
example on the left the Min = 0 and the Max = 200.
NB: The range values set in Element properties govern the range of values the full
motion of the needle will move through, it does not change the values on the Gauge
face. The gauge face is an image file, to modify the range values on the gauge it must
be edited in the image editing package used to create it.
4: Parameter properties
This selects theparameterto be displayed by the Gauge. If a CAN Database has
been loaded into the software and assigned to the software CAN channel the
user also has the choice of selecting this CAN parameter.
NB: See the ‘Logging CAN channel’ Section for more information
Once the Gauge face has been selected and the minimum and maximum gauge
range and the displayed parameter have been chosen, the next step is to select a
Gauge needle.
Needle
When the background has been selected the Needle options become available. A
needle can be a Bitmap, JPEG or PNG file.
NB: The image of the needle used for the gauge must be vertical with the needle
rotation point at the bottom. This is because the software uses North as the zero
reference position when creating the gauge.
5: Loading a Needle
To load a Needle image click on the load button under the needle properties.
Once the needle image has been selected it will appear in the top left of the gauge
with a small crosshairs at the top.
6: Positioning the Needle
Now that a needle image has been selected, its position on the Gauge must be set and the attributes which determine
its behaviour, such as the where the minimum and maximum rotation limits are located and the direction of rotation
of the needle, also need to be defined.
