11.2 Cleaning the finger pricker
To ensure proper functioning of your
fi
nger pricker, you
should clean it regularly and if there is any blood on it.
If you want to clean the
fi
nger pricker,
fi
rst detach it
from the meter (see Chapter “Undocking and docking
the
fi
nger pricker”).
Clean the outside of the
fi
nger pricker only. Wipe it
once a week with a cloth moistened with 70 % ethanol
or 70 % isopropanol (available from your pharmacy).
Also clean the inside of the cap with a cotton swab
moistened with one of the two cleaning
fl
uids.
Allow the
fi
nger pricker and cap time to dry thoroughly.
Never dip the
fi
nger pricker in cleaning
fl
uid.
Doing so may damage its internal components
and stop it from working properly.
Use only 70 % ethanol or 70 % isopropanol to
clean the
fi
nger pricker. Other cleaning agents
may attack the plastic and stop the
fi
nger
pricker from operating properly.
