3.1 Preparing
the
finger pricker
AST cap
You can use the
fi
nger pricker to obtain blood from a
fi
ngertip or from other (alternate) sites. You can choose
one of 11 different penetration depth settings to suit
your own skin type.
You can use the
fi
nger pricker either docked on to the
meter or separately from the meter.
If you wish to obtain blood from alternate sites (such as
palm, forearm, upper arm, calf or thigh), you must
replace the normal black cap on the
fi
nger pricker with
a special AST cap (AST stands for alternate site test-
ing). If there is no AST cap in the pack, you can order
one from your Accu-Chek Customer Careline.
Make sure you also read the instructions for use that
come with the AST cap before using blood from alter-
nate sites for a blood glucose test.
