ENGINE OVERHEATS (cont’d)
3. Cooling fan is not working.
– Check fan fuse. See MAINTENANCE INFORMATION section If fuse is good,
contact an authorized Can-Am dealer.
ENGINE BACKFIRE
1. Exhaust system leakage.
– Contact an authorized Can-Am dealer.
2. Engine is running too hot.
– See ENGINE LACKS ACCELERATION OR POWER.
3. Ignition timing is incorrect or there is an ignition system failure.
– Contact an authorized Can-Am dealer.
ENGINE MISFIRE
1. Fouled/defective/worn spark plug.
– Clean/verify spark plug and heat range. Replace as required.
2. Water in fuel.
– Drain fuel system and refill with fresh fuel.
VEHICLE CANNOT REACH FULL SPEED
1. Engine.
– See ENGINE LACKS ACCELERATION OR POWER.
2. Parking brake.
– Ensure parking brake is completely removed.
3. Air filter/housing clogged or dirty.
– Check air filter and clean if necessary.
– Check deposits in air filter housing drain.
– Check the position of the air intake tube.
4. CVT dirty or worn-out.
– Contact an authorized Can-Am dealer.
5. Engine is under a protection mode.
– Check multifunction gauge display for messages.
– Multifunction gauge CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp is on and display shows
CHECK ENGINE or LIMP HOME, contact an authorized Can-Am dealer.
TRANSMISSION LEVER IS HARD TO MOVE
1. Transmission gears are in a position that prevents the transmission lever to
work.
– Rock the vehicle back and forth to move the gears in the transmission and al-
low the transmission lever to be set.
