Important Notes
a.
Printer Messages
This system puts out a short message on the first line of the display, indicating the status of the
printer attached to the unit. These messages are 'PRN ONLN', 'PRN OFLN', and `PRN OFF',
depending on the printer status.
The message would show PRN OFF when the printer is connected but is powered off. All print
routines will go through when PRN ONLN and PRN OFF. So, if you just need to see the totals on
the LCD, but do not want to print the report, power off the printer and run the report.
But with printer connected and powered on, if the printer is off line or if there is no paper, it will
show PRN OFLN and the print routines will not go through.
If the printer goes out of paper while printing a report, 'PRINTER NOT READY' message appears on
the last line. If you want to discontinue the printing, press [EXIT] key till the system returns to
normal mode of operation.
b.
Battery Back-up
The Call-A-Matic system comes with a built in NiMH rechargeable battery, which is kept on a
constant trickle charge when the system is powered on. When the system is first unpacked, this
battery may be fully run-down and you may get the 'Memory Corruption' message. However, once
installed, this system is expected to be kept permanently powered on and hence the battery will
get fully charged in a day or two and the data retention during normal power failures would be
taken care of. A fully charged battery should provide a back up for a month at least.
c.
Wiring Precautions
The unit is supplied with a wall mounting 9 Volts AC transformer with a 2-pin jack, which will plug
in directly into the Call-A-Matic.
FOR SAFE & RELIABLE OPERATION, THIS UNIT MUST BE GROUNDED PROPERLY.
d. PBX not connected
The unit constantly checks for the PBX connection. If it is not connected or if the connection
becomes loose, the unit will sound a warning beep and also print a message on the printer saying,
“PBX NOT CONNECTED”. The beep and the message will keep occurring once every minute, till the
problem is rectified.
