Jeep 2016 CHEROKEE Operating Information Manual - page 320
Front Tow Eye Installation
The front tow eye receptacle is located behind a
door on the front bumper fascia
To install the tow eye, open the door using the
vehicle key or a small screwdriver, and thread
the tow eye into the receptacle.
Insert the flat end of the jack handle through the
tow eye and tighten, refer to “Jacking and Tire
Changing in Section 6 for information”. The tow
eye must be fully seated to the attaching
bracket through the lower front fascia as shown.
If the tow eye is not fully seated to the attaching
bracket, the vehicle should not be towed.
TOWING A DISABLED
VEHICLE
This section describes procedures for towing a
disabled vehicle using a commercial towing
service. If the transmission and drivetrain are
operable, disabled vehicles may also be towed
as described under “Recreational Towing” in the
“Starting and Operating” section.
NOTE:
Vehicles equipped with Quadra-Lift™ must
be placed in Transport mode, before tying
them down (from the body) on a trailer or
flatbed truck. Refer to the section on
Quadra-Lift™ for more information. If the
vehicle cannot be placed in Transport mode
(for example, engine will not run), tie-downs
must be fastened to the axles (not to the
body). Failure to follow these instructions
may cause fault codes to be set and/or
cause loss of proper tie-down tension.
