FRX4000/FRX6000 4.0 User Guide, Rev 01
Physical Port Interface
must be configured as follows. For reference, port locations are shown on
page 6-1
(FRX4000) or
page 6-2
(FRX6000).
●
FRX4000 port 0 is always
RS-232
.
●
FRX4000 port 1 is
RS-232
or
DSU
, depending on whether the optional CSU/
DSU card is installed.
●
FRX4000 ports 2 and 3 are determined by the attached cables:
RS-232, V.35, RS-
449
, or
X.21
.
●
FRX4000 ports 4–7 are determined by the expansion Line Interface Card (LIC)
and attached cables. RLP Configuration identifies the LIC, and only the valid
interfaces will be displayed on the Port screen, among:
RS-232, V.35, RS-449,
X.21
,
T1
, and
E1
. (RS-449 and X.21 interfaces require an RS-422 LIC, which is
available by special order.) Note that a T1 or E1 LIC supports one port (port 4).
●
FRX6000 ports 0–7 on each RLP are determined by the Line Interface Card(s)
and attached cables. The RLP record identifies the LIC, and only the valid inter-
faces will be displayed on the Port screen, among:
RS-232, V.35, RS-449, RS-530
,
X.21
,
T1
, and
E1
.
(RS-449, RS-530, and X.21 i
nterfaces require an RS-422 LIC.)
Note that a T1 or E1 LIC supports one port (port 0 or 4).
Blocked Port Flag
will cause the port to be enabled (
N
) or disabled (
Y
) at node IPL. The port will remain
in that state until this parameter is changed or an on-line enable (
[B], [B], [C]
from the
Main Menu) or disable (
[B], [B], [A]
from the Main Menu) is performed.
Line Speed
is the data transmission rate in bits per second, and the clock speed on a serial port
when the port is a physical DCE (i.e., the attached I/O cable is DCE). If this port is a
physical DTE, specify the line speed that matches (as closely as possible) that of the
device connected directly to the port.
Selecting this parameter for an FRX4000 CSU/DSU port will toggle between the two
valid values of
56K bps
and
64K Clear Channel
.
This parameter cannot be selected on a T1 or E1 port; rather, the line speed is deter-
mined by the port type and channel usage:
Full T1
1.344M
if
Base Channel Speed
is
56K
1.536M
if
Base Channel Speed
is
64K
Fractional T1
56K
per channel,
1.344M
max, if
Base Channel Speed
is
56K
64K
per channel,
1.536M
max, if
Base Channel Speed
is
64K
Full E1
1.920M
Fractional E1
64K
per channel,
1.920M
max
Selecting this parameter for any port type except T1, E1, or FRX4000
DSU
will
display a list of valid values for the configured
Physical Port Interface
. (If a list of
ranges is displayed, press the letter corresponding to a range to display the valid
speeds within that range.)
All possible speeds (irrespective of physical interface type) are:
