NTERFACE
Your 24-port NWay Ethernet Layer 3 Switch supports a console
management interface that allows you to set up and control your
Switch, either with an ordinary terminal (or terminal emulator), or
over the network using the TCP/IP
TELNET
protocol. You can use
this facility to perform many basic network management functions.
In addition, the console program will allow you to configure the
Switch for management using an SNMP-based network
management system. This chapter describes how to use the console
interface to access the Switch, change its settings, and monitor its
operation.
Notes are added where clarification is necessary.
Where there is a difference in the setup of the switch between its
two operational modes (Layer 2 Only and IP Routing), the
sections are divided to correspond with the switch operating mode
that is applicable.
Note: IP Routing mode switch configuration settings that
are saved to non-volatile RAM using Save Changes from
the Main Menu are retained in the switch’s memory when
the operational mode is changed. IP Routing mode
