Intravascular dye injections
Significant concentrations of dysfunctional hemoglobin, such as carboxyhemoglobin and
methemoglobin
Excessive patient movement and vibration
Improper sensor application
Low perfusion or high signal attenuation
Venous pulsation
Placement of the sensor on an extremity that has a blood pressure cuff, arterial catheter, or
intravascular line
10.5 Understanding SpO
2
Alarms
This refers to SpO
2
specific alarms. See the Alarms section for general alarm information. SpO
2
offers high and low limit alarms, and the users can adjust them.
10.6 Adjusting Alarm Limits
In the SpO
2
Setup menu, select Alarm Setup:
Set the SpO
2
High Alarm Limit to an apprioate value from the popup interface.
Set the SpO
2
Low Alarm Limit to an apprioate value from the popup interface.
WARNING
High oxygen levels may predispose a premature infant to retrolental fibroplasia. If this is a
consideration do NOT set the high alarm limit to 100%, which is equivalent to switching
the alarm off.
10.7 Setting SpO
2
as Pulse Source
1. In the PR Setup menu, select PR Source;
2. Select SpO
2
from the pop-up list.
10.8 Setting Pitch Tone
If tone modulation is on, the PR sound lowers when the SpO
2
level drops. In the SpO
2
Setup
menu, select pitch tone to toggle between On and Off.
10.9 Setting Sensitivity
The different sensitivity indicates different refresh frequency. High indicates the refresh
frequency of SpO
2
value is the most frequent. To change the sensitivity, please follow the steps:

Setup menu;

Select Sensitivity on the interface and select the desired sensitivity from the popup list.
