As shown in the figure, each 60-pin serial connector on an FRM supports up to four I/
O ports, all of the same interface type. A cable carries each connector’s signals to an
I/O box assembly. The I/O box acts as a "splitter" that carries signals to four 25-pin
connectors. The "final" physical interface depends on the combination of the type of
I/O cable exiting the I/O box.
The LAN port on each FRM can be connected to a LAN module in the SmartSwitch
9000 (as shown in the figure), or to an external source.
