System Boot Errors
ERROR - Does not boot from the expected boot device.
Reason
Solution
Boot sequence is incorrectly set.
Change the “Boot Up Sequence”
parameter in AMIBIOS Setup.
Refer to Chapter 6, “Using
AMIBIOS Setup.”
Operating system not on the
system drive.
Load the operating system as
described in operating system
documentation.
ERROR - Does not boot from drive A.
Reason
Solution
Corrupt boot disk, or boot disk
does not have correct boot
utilities.
Replace the boot disk.
Boot sequence is incorrectly set.
Change the “Boot Up Sequence”
parameter in AMIBIOS Setup.
Refer to Chapter 6, “Using
AMIBIOS Setup.”
Corrupt BIOS.
Reprogram the flash EPROM on
the system board with a new
BIOS. Refer to Chapter 4,
“Maintaining the System.”
ERROR - Hard disk drive not recognized.
Reason
Solution
Hard disk drive power cable is not
attached.
Open the base unit and ensure
power cable is properly attached.
Hard disk drive SCSI cable is not
attached.
Open the base unit and ensure the
SCSI cable is properly attached at
both ends.
A SCSI address conflict exists
between the hard disk drive and
another SCSI device.
Set SCSI ID to an unused value.
Refer to the hard disk drive
vendor’s documentation.
SCSI termination is not disabled.
Disable SCSI termination. Refer
to the hard disk drive vendor’s
documentation.
Some viruses cause the system to
not recognize hard disk drives.
Run a virus scan program that
checks the Master Boot Record.
Clear any viruses detected by the
