114 Appendix A -- Installing System Software

To collect system information:
1.
Select Next.
2.
To install Windows 95 in the WINDOWS directory, select Next.
3.
Select the type of Setup (Typical is the default).
4.
Type the 20-digit Product Identification Number, found on the
Certificate of Authenticity on the cover of Introducing Windows 95.
You must exit Setup if you do not have the Product Identification
Number.
5.
When prompted for User Information, type your name and the name
of your company.
6.
If necessary, select the Sound, MIDI, or Video Capture Card check
box to install drivers for the integrated Vibra 16 sound controller.
7.
If your system is connected to a network, select the Network Adapter
check box.
8.
Select Next; Setup Wizard analyzes the system. A progress bar
displays.
9.
When prompted to select connections, choose the Microsoft Network,
Microsoft Mail, and/or Microsoft Fax, as appropriate.
10.
When prompted, select Next to configure Windows component
software.
11.
Select Next to create a Windows 95 Startup Diskette. The files on a
Startup Diskette can restore the original contents of a damaged
Windows 95 Registry, along with the standard Windows 95 drivers.

To copy files:
1.
Select Next to copy Windows 95 files from the Windows 95 CD-
ROM to the system drive. A progress bar displays as Setup copies
files to the system.
